About The Position
This is an ongoing coverage need for a Neuromuscular Surgery NP/PA position. The role involves inpatient coverage with no call or OR responsibilities. Key duties include responding to code strokes and providing post-procedure care for neuro-interventional surgery patients. The position is for adult patients and utilizes the EPIC EMR system. Credentialing is expected to take 120 days. The role is structured as 3 x 12-hour shifts per week, with both day and night coverage needed from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Requirements
- Active Virginia licensure
- Board certification
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 1-year Neurovascular Surgery experience or equivalent
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
- Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Virginia OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Virginia
- National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty
Responsibilities
- Respond to code stroke
- Provide post-procedure care for neuro-interventional surgery patients
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
- Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
- Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
