About The Position

The role of Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining a secure, reliable network environment while serving as the first point of contact for end-user support. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to protecting organizational systems while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. This is an in person Monday-Friday schedule. We have a Microsoft Windows network, leveraged by Active Directory, with Microsoft 365 business software. Devices attach to this network via direct ethernet connections, secure wireless access points, or remotely via the internet. This network interfaces in a Wide Area Network with several applications and products: IBM iSeries with legacy ERP software coded in RPG & accessed via IBM iAccess for Windows, Sage MAS 500 Accounting Suite, M-LINX Mobile Route Delivery system, Textile industry specific software such as Colmac soil counting system, and a limited number of Apple produces.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Network Administrator, IT Support Technician, or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, including threat detection and secure network design.
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls (Ubiquity, Cisco), switches, and VPN technologies.
  • Familiarity with SIEM tools, network monitoring platforms, and packet analyzers.
  • Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing fundamentals.
  • Experience providing first-level technical support in a helpdesk or service desk environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset with patience and professionalism.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, and cloud-connected networks.
  • Implement and enforce network security controls, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, Access Control Lists, and network segmentation.
  • Perform security monitoring using SIEM tools, log analysis, and packet inspection.
  • Work with third party to conduct routine vulnerability assessments and assist with remediation efforts.
  • Maintain and update network hardware and firmware (switches, routers, firewalls, access points).
  • Manage user authentication systems, including MFA, certificates, and privileged access.
  • Assist in incident response, including investigation, documentation, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and security policies.
  • Disaster recovery protocols
  • Serve as the first point of contact for IT support requests via phone, email, or ticketing system.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic network, connectivity, and hardware issues.
  • Analyze and recommend purchases, upgrades, and disposals of IT equipment such as desktop computers and laptops.
  • Assist users with workstation setup, software installation, and basic configuration.
  • Clean discontinue devices of any proprietary information and dispose of properly, including proper asset disposal forms as assets are removed from inventory
  • Provide support for user account management, password resets, and access requests.
  • Deliver clear, friendly communication to ensure a positive support experience.
  • Keep inventory of computers, printers, monitors, tablets, company cell phones, IT related assets.
  • Manage this inventory as related to asset tags, maintenance, support contracts, asset disposals, etc. as needed.
