About The Position

This internship supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will assist in various network operations and security tasks, including router and switch upgrades, configuration, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and physical device installations. The role also involves documenting network topology, IP allocations, and inventory. Resumes must be submitted in month and year format. The selected candidate may be assigned as an employee for one of our teammate companies.

Requirements

  • Must have 1, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience (May be reduced with completion of advanced education).
  • Must be a recent graduate OR currently enrolled in an accredited associate or bachelor’s degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline with at least sophomore-level standing.
  • Must have a basic understanding of TCP/IP protocols, subnetting, and DNS/DHCP, along with familiarity with the OSI model.
  • Must have academic or lab exposure to the Cisco Command Line Interface (CLI), including basic router/switch configuration concepts.
  • Must be able, and willing, to work scheduled evening maintenance windows to support live network operations and changes.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to document technical steps and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Must have a current DoW IAT Levl II certification (ex: CompTIA Security+ CE certification, or equivalent foundational cybersecurity knowledge (e.g., understanding network access control and device hardening)).
  • Must have, or obtain, an active DoW Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Cisco IOS router and switch upgrades, rollbacks and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Help monitor network performance, bandwidth utilization, and system alerts.
  • Perform physical device installations, patching cables, and auditing server rack diagrams.
  • Document network topology maps, IP address allocations, and inventory lists.
