About The Position

The Financial Analyst supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will track and analyze financial transactions, prepare and record journal entries and accruals, analyze activity and perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, and prepare monthly and quarterly management and company reports. This may include a combination of period-end reports, GL account reconciliation, vendor accounts and labor records. The role also involves entering and validating Contract Awards and modifications within the financial system, understanding their financial requirements, and preparing and submitting billing/invoices in a timely manner according to contract specifications. The analyst will analyze records of present and past operations, trends, and costs to project future revenues and expenses, maintain an organized electronic file maintenance system, identify and drive process improvements, modify database queries and reports, manage assigned projects, and collaborate with cross-functional team members. Assistance with special projects assigned by the manager is also expected. The successful candidate will display responsiveness, flexibility, organization, and diligence, perform as a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, possess strong organizational and detailed-oriented skills, and demonstrate excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and external auditors.

Requirements

  • Must have 2, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
  • Must have 1, or more, years of directly related experience in general accounting
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree (of higher) in a related field
  • Must have professional experience using Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs for large volumes of data.
  • Must have experience operating standard office equipment (fax, copier, printer, phone) including proficiency in financial accounting systems.
  • Must have analytical skills, ability to dig into the details and provide recommendations.
  • Must live within fifty miles of Schriever Space Force Base, CO.
  • Must have, or obtain within 90 days of offer, an active DoW Secret Security Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management and company reports. This may include a combination of period-end reports, GL account reconciliation, vendor accounts and labor records.
  • Enter and validate Contract Awards and modifications within the financial system and understand financial requirements of contract awards and modifications.
  • Prepare and submit billing/invoices in a timely manner, according to contract specifications, including supporting documents such as receipts, statements, invoices, purchase orders, travel forms, as necessary.
  • Analyze records of present and past operations, trends, and costs, estimated, and realized revenues, administrative commitments, and obligations incurred to project future revenues and expenses.
  • Maintain an organized electronic file maintenance system for all contract and billing documentation, staying current with contract changes.
  • Identify and drive process improvements that will both leverage and enhance your skill set.
  • Modify database queries and reports to meet analytical demands as required.
  • Manage assigned projects and collaborate with cross-functional team members to deliver high-quality information to the leadership team.
  • Assist with special projects that are assigned by the manager.
