About The Position

Installs, maintains, and secures network infrastructure, including routers, switches and firewalls. Identifies and resolves network issues, such as outages or slow connectivity. Performs routine maintenance, software upgrades, and replaces hardware as necessary. Architects, configures, and maintains robust data and network infrastructure while serving as the primary technical liaison between clients, vendors, and information services to ensure seamless integration, performance, and alignment with business needs. Rapidly diagnoses and resolves complex networking equipment and connectivity issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring reliable system performance. Provides support and routine maintenance for network security equipment, helping ensure systems remain secure, reliable, and properly configured. Ensure seamless data flow across LANs, WANs, and VPNs by proactively troubleshooting connectivity issues and optimizing network performance for reliability and efficiency. Regularly update firewalls, apply security patches, and monitor for unauthorized network activity. Assists with cable pulling, termination, and labeling in accordance with industry standards and secured structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/fiber). Deploy and support VoIP phone systems, including cabling, device installation, and network integration. Strengthens operational consistency by developing, implementing, and maintaining standardized procedures for equipment installation, configuration support, and network operations, driving improved service quality, efficiency, and repeatability. Strategically plans and executes network upgrades while coordinating maintenance windows to minimize disruption and ensure continuous system availability. Develops, implements, and continuously updates information security policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures to ensure they remain current, effective, and aligned with evolving threats and compliance requirements. Maintains accurate inventory records, network diagrams, and standardized labeling across all county systems and network infrastructure to ensure clarity, traceability, and efficient management. Continuously stays current on emerging technologies, including information security practices and modern monitoring and management tools, to enhance system resilience, security, and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • At least two years of information technology experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and one year of network operations experience; or
  • Associate/Technical Degree from an accredited college or university and three years of network operations experience; or
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus five years of network operations experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, department personnel, regulatory agencies or members of the public.
  • Ability to effectively present information to county officials, department heads, governmental jurisdictions, and the public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Advanced understanding of network hardware, software, and services including but not limited to: VLANS, VOIP, routing topology, and firewalls.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of virtual machine platforms, windows, windows servers, active directory, group policy and Linux.
  • Must possess a valid Class C Texas Driver License.
  • Meets all security and access requirements for systems containing sensitive data including but not limited to: CJIS and HIPAA.
