About The Position

The Network Engineer (Second Shift) supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will ensure system changes are completed in accordance with developer documentation, configuration management and documentation practices. They will be responsible for daily hands-on operating and maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and testing of C2BMC networks. The role involves configuring, installing, testing, and sustaining IT network and boundary protection devices and systems. The engineer must be able to perform technical validation of network designs in accordance with industry best practices and DoD policies and guidelines, and perform data collection and validation of network services and devices. They will assist integration managers in problem definition and root cause analysis, provide timely updates to appropriate team leads, managers and stakeholders on status of tasks and troubleshooting efforts, and make recommendations to plan, develop and execute work plans that achieve critical-path requirements. The engineer will work with the project team to install and test new hardware as needed for lifecycle management and use the REMEDY ticketing system to report, track and document problems and resolution life-cycle actions on faulty systems. This is a second shift position with typical hours of 1400-2200, but duty hours may occasionally change (up to 4 hours earlier or later) to meet differently scheduled mission activities. Requirements

  • Must have 6, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience (May be reduced with completion of advanced education)
  • Must have 4, or more, years of directly related experience in Internet Protocols (e.g. DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SSL); Multiple network types (i.e. LAN, WAN, VLAN, SDN); and/or managing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Telecommunications infrastructures
  • Must have experience in firewall configuration and troubleshooting
  • Must have experience with IP addressing, subnetting, and NAT
  • Must have experience with Cisco or Juniper routers, switches, firewalls
  • Must have experience configuring OSPF, SNMP, Syslog, VRF, and network timing systems
  • Must have a current DoD approved 8570 Level II certification such as Security+ CE
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Have a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA) certification
  • Have experience with network monitoring
  • Have experience using Juniper Apstra to build and deploy network configurations
  • Have experience with software defined networking, such as VMware NSX
  • Have experience with Microsoft Visio diagramming
  • Have knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems and MDIOC operations
