About The Position

Insight Enterprises is seeking a Network Engineer with hands-on Cisco IOS XR experience, ideally gained while supporting an ISP provider’s internet infrastructure. The role is onsite in Austin, Texas, and the posting requests local candidates. The position begins as a contract, with a possible conversion to permanent employment after approximately 6–12 months. The stated rate is $50 per hour CTC. Candidates must meet the client’s stated USC or GC/GC EAD eligibility requirement. The engineer will design, configure, implement, and maintain Cisco-based infrastructure using IOS XR in enterprise and service-provider environments. The work includes configuring and troubleshooting network devices, supporting routing and VPN technologies, executing installations and upgrades, monitoring network performance, resolving incidents, and coordinating with technical stakeholders. The engineer will also maintain network documentation, follow change-management procedures, apply network-security practices, and contribute to capacity planning and infrastructure improvement.

Requirements

Experience working as a Network Engineer supporting enterprise, telecommunications, or service-provider networks.
Hands-on experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Cisco IOS XR; the posting specifically emphasizes IOS XR installation, upgrades, and administration.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, routing, switching, and network architecture.
Experience with BGP, OSPF, and/or IS-IS routing protocols.
Knowledge of MPLS, VRF, VLANs, and Layer 2/Layer 3 networking.
Experience troubleshooting complex routing, connectivity, and network-performance issues.
Familiarity with network-monitoring tools, configuration management, and incident-management processes.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Local to Austin, Texas, as the posting requests local candidates for the onsite role.
Meet the stated USC or GC/GC EAD eligibility requirement.

Experience working for an ISP provider on internet infrastructure, such as Verizon, AT&T, or xFinity.

Responsibilities

Design, configure, implement, and maintain Cisco-based network infrastructure using Cisco IOS XR.
Configure and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, and other network devices in enterprise and service-provider environments.
Implement and support routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS.
Configure and maintain MPLS, Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs, and other advanced routing technologies.
Support network architecture, IP addressing, subnetting, routing policies, and network segmentation.
Troubleshoot network issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and optimize performance to support network reliability and availability.
Execute network installations, migrations, software upgrades, configuration changes, and maintenance activities.
Monitor network health, bandwidth utilization, routing stability, and overall infrastructure performance.
Collaborate with network architects, systems engineers, security teams, and other technical stakeholders to implement network solutions.
Develop and maintain network diagrams, configuration documentation, technical procedures, and operational standards.
Follow network change-management procedures and support incident resolution in accordance with service-level agreements.
Implement network-security best practices, including access controls, infrastructure hardening, and secure management protocols.
Participate in network capacity planning, infrastructure modernization, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
