About The Position

The American Kennel Club is seeking a Network Engineer to join its Infrastructure Services team. The role supports the network services connecting AKC offices, business applications, and digital platforms. The engineer will help maintain, secure, and enhance the network environment while collaborating with infrastructure professionals and gaining exposure to networking, cybersecurity, virtualization, storage, and cloud technologies.

This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three days per week in the Raleigh, North Carolina office.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise network environments.
• Strong understanding of routing, switching, TCP/IP networking, and network troubleshooting.
• Experience with VLAN implementation and network segmentation.
• Experience supporting IPsec and SSL VPN technologies.
• Experience administering next-generation firewall platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platforms.
• Familiarity with Linux administration.
• Exposure to enterprise storage technologies, including NetApp.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and data protection solutions.
• Industry certifications such as Network+, CCNA, or similar networking certifications.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including routing and switching environments.
• Configure and manage network segmentation, VLANs, and secure connectivity solutions.
• Administer and optimize next-generation firewall technologies and security controls.
• Monitor network performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and resolve connectivity issues.
• Support VPN connectivity and secure access solutions for AKC employees and business partners.
• Collaborate with teammates on infrastructure upgrades, modernization efforts, and technology projects.
• Troubleshoot complex network and security-related issues across multiple environments.
• Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
