About The Position

Teamshares is a major buyer of small businesses from retiring owners, aiming to make employee ownership the future of small businesses. They acquire promising companies, grant employees an immediate 10% ownership stake, and support their growth with proprietary software, education, financial products, and leadership support. Teamshares is building a network of 10,000 employee-owned small businesses, intending to create $10 billion in stock wealth for wage workers and support business owners' retirements. The company seeks an entrepreneurial business leader to serve as the President/CEO of a network company near Corona, CA, in the Specialty Automotive Parts & Accessories Retail industry. The President will be responsible for increasing profitability and transitioning the business to employee ownership, managing the full P&L, business strategy, and operations. They will report to a Teamshares Industry Lead who supports a portfolio of companies in the sector.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial instincts with demonstrated success driving marketing strategy, brand positioning, and revenue growth in a product-based business
  • Experience leading product strategy and development in a mechanical or automotive environment
  • Solid understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes; ability to effectively oversee and guide engineering and product development teams
  • Familiarity with CAD-driven product development workflows (hands-on proficiency a plus, but not required)
  • Willingness to personally drive change, solve problems at the ground level, and operate hands-on during a period of significant transition
  • Ability to communicate effectively, solve problems, and foster constructive collaboration with all employees
  • Proven people leadership abilities through previous work experiences, with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a low-ego approach
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to build and innovate
  • Proven project management and problem-solving skills, coupled with a humble, hands-on, get-it-done attitude
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills to oversee company financials and develop effective business strategies

Responsibilities

  • Serve as president of a small business in the automotive parts and distribution industry
  • Determine and be responsible for all business strategy, operations, and P&L management
  • Lead an experienced team of existing employee owners
  • Drive revenue growth through marketing, outreach, and the development of new product lines and accounts
  • Develop and execute repeatable business processes to achieve key business results, establishing and tracking key operational metrics and financial outcomes
  • Collaborate with Teamshares staff and company-level financial partners to manage ongoing expenses, capital purchases, and growth initiatives
  • Act as a growth leader, working with employee-owners to improve company operations and expand revenue opportunities
  • Handle HR responsibilities, including staff disputes, employee performance evaluations, job reviews, raises, and bonuses
  • Invest in the local community and build strong relationships with customers, vendors, and partners
  • Collaborate with Teamshares and fellow shareholders during the transition to employee ownership, coaching and partnering to instill an owner’s mindset that drives better business outcomes and fosters a positive company culture
