About The Position

Teamshares is a major buyer of small businesses from retiring owners, aiming to make employee ownership the future of small business. They acquire promising companies, grant employees an immediate 10% ownership stake, and provide support through software, education, financial products, and leadership assistance. Teamshares is building a network of 10,000 employee-owned businesses, intending to create $10 billion in stock wealth for wage workers and support business owners' retirements. The company seeks an entrepreneurial business leader to serve as the President/CEO of a Baltimore, MD metro area restaurant company with 4 locations. The role involves increasing profitability and transitioning the business to employee ownership, with full P&L responsibility, business strategy, and operations oversight.

Requirements

  • A strong background in restaurant operations, with a demonstrated ability to manage high-volume, multi-unit locations, ensuring operational excellence, staff coordination, and seamless service delivery across all units
  • Proven capability to prioritize and delegate tasks based on urgency and impact, ensuring critical issues are addressed efficiently while maintaining a focus on long-term operational goals
  • Ability to communicate effectively, solve problems, and foster constructive collaboration with all employees
  • Proven people leadership abilities through previous work experiences, with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a low-ego approach
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to build and innovate

Responsibilities

  • Serve as president of a small business in the restaurant industry with multiple full-service locations
  • Determine and be responsible for all business strategy, operations, and P&L management
  • Lead an experienced team of existing employee owners
  • Collaborate on financial decisions with the bookkeeper regarding ongoing expenses, capital purchases, optimizing efficiencies, and developing business metrics
  • Lead efforts to grow the business through marketing, outreach, and the development of new product lines and accounts
  • Handle HR responsibilities, including staff disputes, employee performance evaluations, job reviews, raises, and bonuses
  • Analyze current business methods and practices, and promote opportunities for team development and growth
  • Invest in the local community and build strong relationships with customers, vendors, and partners
  • Collaborate with Teamshares and fellow shareholders during the transition to employee ownership, coaching and partnering to instill an owner’s mindset
  • Act as a growth leader, working with employee-owners to improve company operations and expand revenue opportunities
