About The Position

Teamshares is seeking an entrepreneurial business leader to serve as the Small Business President/CEO of one of their network companies in the Baltimore, MD metro area. This role is within the restaurant industry and involves managing 4 locations. The president will be responsible for increasing profitability and successfully transitioning the business to employee ownership. This includes owning full P&L responsibility, business strategy, and operations, while also running and working within the business. Teamshares is a large buyer of small businesses from retiring owners, aiming to make employee ownership the future of small business by gifting employees an immediate 10% ownership stake and providing support through proprietary software, education, financial products, and leadership support. Their mission is to build a network of 10,000 employee-owned small businesses, creating significant stock wealth for wage workers and supporting business owners into retirement, ultimately aiming to reduce global wealth inequality.

Requirements

  • A strong background in restaurant operations, with a demonstrated ability to manage high-volume, multi-unit locations, ensuring operational excellence, staff coordination, and seamless service delivery across all units.
  • Proven capability to prioritize and delegate tasks based on urgency and impact, ensuring critical issues are addressed efficiently while maintaining a focus on long-term operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as president of a small business in the restaurant industry with multiple full-service locations
  • Determine/be responsible for all business strategy, operations, and P&L management
  • Lead an experienced team of existing employee owners
  • Collaborate on Financial Decisions: Work closely with the bookkeeper to make informed decisions about ongoing expenses and capital purchases, optimize efficiencies, and develop business metrics.
  • Driving Business Growth: Lead efforts to grow the business through marketing, outreach, and the development of new product lines and accounts.
  • Managing HR and Personnel Matters: Handle HR responsibilities, including staff disputes, employee performance evaluations, job reviews, raises, and bonuses.
  • Analyzing Business Practices: Analyze current business methods and practices, and promote opportunities for team development and growth.
  • Relationship management: invest in your local community, and build strong relationships with customers, vendors, and partners.
  • Transitioning to Employee Ownership: Collaborate with Teamshares and fellow shareholders during the transition to employee ownership, coaching and partnering to instill an owner’s mindset that drives better business outcomes and fosters a positive company culture.
  • Leading Growth Initiatives: Act as a growth leader, working with employee-owners to improve company operations and expand revenue opportunities.
