About The Position

Teamshares is seeking an entrepreneurial business leader to serve as the Small Business President/CEO of one of their network companies in the Providence, RI metro area, operating within the home furnishing/decor retail industry. Teamshares is a major buyer of small businesses from retiring owners, with a mission to make employee ownership the future of small business. They achieve this by gifting employees an immediate 10% ownership stake and providing support through proprietary software, education, financial products, and leadership assistance. The goal is to build a network of 10,000 employee-owned small businesses, creating significant stock wealth for wage workers and ensuring the continued flourishing of vital small businesses and their communities. As a network company president, the role involves increasing profitability, successfully transitioning the business to employee ownership, and owning full P&L responsibility, business strategy, and operations. The president will report to a Teamshares Industry Lead who supports a portfolio of companies within the sector.

Requirements

  • A strong background in retail operations, with a demonstrated ability to manage high-end sales floors, ensuring operational excellence, staff coordination, and seamless customer service.
  • Demonstrated expertise in B2C marketing, sales management, and e-commerce.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as president of a small business in home decor & retail industry
  • Determine and be responsible for all business strategy, operations, and P&L management
  • Lead an experienced team of existing employee owners
  • Drive Revenue Growth: Lead efforts to grow the business through marketing, outreach, and the development of new product lines and accounts.
  • Execute Operational Business Objectives: Develop and execute repeatable business processes to achieve key business results. Document existing effective methods or develop new structures, establish and track key operational metrics and financial outcomes.
  • Collaborate on Financial Decisions: Work closely with Teamshares staff and company-level financial partners to manage ongoing expenses, capital purchases, and growth initiatives.
  • Lead Growth Initiatives: Act as a growth leader, working with employee-owners to improve company operations and expand revenue opportunities.
  • Manage HR and Personnel Matters: Handle HR responsibilities, including staff disputes, employee performance evaluations, job reviews, raises, and bonuses.
  • Relationship management: Invest in the local community, and build strong relationships with customers, vendors, and partners.
  • Transitioning to Employee Ownership: Collaborate with Teamshares and fellow shareholders during the transition to employee ownership, coaching and partnering to instill an owner’s mindset that drives better business outcomes and fosters a positive company culture.
