About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Information Technology (IT) Division provides enterprise information technology leadership and solutions to the department and their partners. This position is with the State Laboratory of Public Health (SLPH) and Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Raleigh, NC. The SLPH provides medical and environmental laboratory services, and the OCME investigates deaths in North Carolina that are suspicious, unusual, or unattended by a medical professional. This role requires considerable knowledge of high-availability server and VoIP operations, significant VoIP communications experience (Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Expressway, Cisco endpoints and Jabber), demonstrated expertise in network/server problem resolution/troubleshooting, extensive experience with LAN Layer 2\3 switching, Palo Alto\Cisco firewalls, VMWare ESXi hosts, SIP, QoS, DNS, and DHCP.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of high-availability server and VoIP operations.
  • Significant VoIP communications experience (Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Expressway, Cisco endpoints and Jabber).
  • Demonstrated expertise in network/server problem resolution/troubleshooting.
  • Extensive experience with LAN Layer 2\3 switching.
  • Experience with Palo Alto\Cisco firewalls.
  • Experience with VMWare ESXi hosts.
  • Knowledge of SIP, QoS, DNS, and DHCP.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated knowledge of telecommunications network concepts, components, architecture, protocols, transport systems, and communications hardware and software.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and design network systems using the application of electronic and communications principles, communications protocols, and network topologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and interpret various system logs and reports to troubleshoot and formulate solutions to network issues.
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior network staff.
  • Familiarity with medical systems or laboratory environments.
