About The Position

This position guides the successful completion of major engineering programs, or conceives research in areas of considerable scope and complexity supporting the development and production of Gulfstream products and services. The role involves selecting appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues. The NDT Engineer - TS II is consulted extensively by associates and others as a recognized authority within the field. They anticipate and resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways, developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. The approach to problem-solving balances technical product, cost, and schedule. This role works without appreciable direction, and their work is reviewed from a long-range perspective for desired results. The engineer exercises latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments and makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative. They maintain current knowledge of developments in their field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields to recommend innovations that improve the quality and effectiveness of the company's product. The position also requires the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or technical related curriculum applicable to the respective job position, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 10 years in a specific technical discipline or 15 years broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Familiarity with NDT Systems, Equipment, and Technology.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in engineering, or related curriculum preferred.
  • Familiarity with writing, reviewing, and maintaining NDT inspection procedures and techniques in accordance with industry standards such as NAS 410.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to detect subtle defects that could compromise safety.
  • Communication: Clearly explain technical findings to cross-functional teams, including production, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, and Peer Engineering Groups.
  • Problem-Solving: A methodical approach to troubleshooting equipment malfunctions or ambiguous data.

Responsibilities

  • Writing, reviewing, and maintaining NDT inspection procedures and techniques in accordance with industry standards such as NAS 410.
  • Assisting Operations and Supplier Quality with conducting internal and supplier audits (Tier 1 Suppliers).
  • Supplementing training of Level I and II technicians, providing technical guidance on difficult-to-interpret results.
  • Supporting Design reviews for reference standards.
  • Defining NDT requirements during the engineering design phase to ensure product supportability and affordability.
  • Assisting the Composite Fabrication Shop with the development of strategic business plans supporting Production efficiency.
  • Supporting the M&P MRB team with discrepancies.
  • Leading root cause analysis (RCA) for material or mechanical failures identified through testing.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
