About The Position

King Electric is seeking a National Electrical Distributor Sales Account Executive to grow sales through electrical distributors and distributor representatives across regional and national accounts. The ideal candidate will find, develop, and manage relationships with electrical distributors and distributor sales representatives, promote King Electric's products, programs, and value proposition, and create and execute strategic account management plans to achieve sales growth and territory goals. This role involves providing sales updates and forecasts, increasing product awareness, identifying growth opportunities, recruiting new distributors, and monitoring market trends. The position requires up to 30% travel locally, regionally, and nationally, and involves building strong relationships with distributor sales teams and key decision-makers. The Account Executive will support distributor sales initiatives, communicate King Electric's value proposition, attend industry events, and provide basic product application guidance. They will serve as the primary contact for distributors, resolving issues and concerns, monitoring territory performance, and conducting account reviews. Maintaining product knowledge, promoting a professional image, and participating in continuous improvement efforts are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field required. Relevant college coursework, technical training, and additional experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in electrical distribution sales, channel management, manufacturer's representation, or a related commercial sales role.
  • At least 2 years’ experience managing regional or national distributor accounts.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution channels and distributor representative networks.
  • Prior experience negotiating pricing, terms, and deal structures.
  • Compelling communication and presentation skills with the ability to speak clearly, professionally, and persuasively in both positive and negative situations.
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage complex sales cycles from start to finish.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate level math skills – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Intermediate MS Office proficiency, including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent professional level English reading, writing, and speaking for customer and vendor communications.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience using CRM systems, quoting tools, online pricing and availability tools, and sales pipeline management is strongly preferred. (examples: Zoho CRM, Microsoft Dynamics GP, Shopify)
  • Experience applying strategic selling methodologies like Miller Heiman is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Find, develop, and manage relationships with electrical distributors and distributor sales representatives.

  • Create and carry out strategic account management plans that support sales growth and meet territory goals.
  • Provide regular sales updates, forecasts, and account activity reports to leadership.
  • Increase product awareness and engagement through strong relationships and ongoing sales support.
  • Identify opportunities to grow sales and win business from competitors within existing accounts.
  • Recruit and onboard new stocking distributors to expand product availability and market coverage.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and feedback from distributors.
  • Travel up to 30% locally, regionally, and nationally, as required.
  • Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with distributor sales teams and key decision makers.
  • Support distributor sales and growth initiatives.
  • Increase product sales by clearly communicating King Electric's value proposition and benefits.
  • Attend regional sales meetings, distributor events, and trade shows as needed.
  • Provide basic product application and technical guidance to distributors and channel partners.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for distributor and channel partners.
  • Respond to and resolve distributor and channel partner questions, problems, or concerns.
  • Monitor territory performance, customer activity, and sales opportunities.
  • Conduct regular account reviews to evaluate sales results, opportunities, and partnership effectiveness.
  • Identify underperforming distributor representatives and replace them when necessary.
  • Build and maintain product knowledge, including types of heaters, features, benefits, and how to pick the right size for each customer’s unique needs.
  • Stay current on product developments.
  • Promote a professional image in all customer-facing communications.
  • Be actively engaged in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
