About The Position
A private family in the San Francisco Bay Area is seeking an experienced, warm, and highly organized full-time live-in Nanny/Family Assistant. The family has one child, an almost four-year-old boy, and a small Pomeranian. They currently live in San Francisco and plan to relocate to Hillsborough in February 2027. The nanny will help with the child’s morning and afternoon routines. The child attends preschool Monday through Friday, approximately 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; during preschool hours, the nanny will help keep the home organized and running smoothly. The role combines childcare with light household assistance and is not intended to involve heavy or deep cleaning. The family travels domestically and internationally, including to Europe and Asia, and seeks someone comfortable accompanying them on extended trips of approximately four to six weeks. The family has a trip to China and Singapore beginning December 15 and would ideally like the nanny to accompany them. The position provides a private bedroom at home and private accommodations while traveling. The family is seeking a long-term hire, with the goal of the successful candidate joining in November 2026.
Requirements
- Several years of professional nanny experience; experience with preschool-aged children is preferred.
- Warm, patient, energetic, dependable, and highly organized.
- Proactive and able to work independently without constant direction.
- Fluent or proficient in English.
- Comfortable traveling domestically and internationally, including extended trips of approximately four to six weeks.
- Valid passport and appropriate travel documentation.
- Comfortable around small dogs and willing to assist with occasional dog walking.
- Discreet, trustworthy, flexible, and interested in a long-term position.
- Excellent professional references.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a combined nanny/family assistant role is strongly preferred.
- Mandarin language skills are a plus.
- Driving is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience working in private or high-net-worth households is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the child’s morning routine, including breakfast, dressing, and preparation for preschool.
- Provide attentive, engaging care after preschool, including playtime, educational activities, outdoor outings, and meals.
- Plan age-appropriate activities that encourage learning, creativity, and development.
- Assist with dinner and occasional bedtime routines.
- Maintain the child’s bedroom, toys, clothing, and personal belongings.
- Travel with the family domestically and internationally as needed.
- Maintain general household organization and tidy common areas.
- Make beds and keep bedrooms neat and organized.
- Handle family laundry, including washing, drying, folding, and putting clothing away.
- Unpack and organize household deliveries and packages.
- Keep the kitchen tidy, clean up after meals, and load and unload the dishwasher.
- Help organize household supplies and maintain inventory.
- Assist with light housekeeping and general household upkeep; heavy or deep cleaning is not part of the role.
- Assist with occasional dog walking and basic pet-related tasks.
