About The Position

A lovely family of five in Austin, TX, is seeking a mature, thinking, empathetic, and dedicated live-out nanny/family assistant to join their household team. They have three energetic boys (ages 6, 10, and 13), their eldest will only be around for one week every month, so the younger two children will be the candidate's main responsibility. The family is looking for a "teammate" who can work collaboratively to maintain a supportive and structured environment. The ideal candidate is someone looking for longevity who will become an integral part of the family’s life. The ideal schedule would be Sunday, Monday, and Thursday, and approximately 1.30pm-9pm, with an extra 5+-hours per week for family assistant duties. This is a dynamic role that blends traditional childcare with mentorship. You will work alongside a SAHM and full-time housekeeper, ensuring the boys are supported in their growth and daily schedules. They value clear communication. The ideal candidate will be energetic and outgoing, assertive, and confident. This position is to start mid-August.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with school-aged children.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Strong references highlighting reliability and a nurturing character
  • Flexibility to be available for extra hours if required
  • A mature mindset with high emotional intelligence and empathy. It is essential that you hold similar values to the parents regarding upbringing and discipline.
  • Must be a fluent English speaker with a high value on open, honest communication.
  • Ability to work seamlessly with a SAHM and a full-time housekeeper.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe transport for school pickups and various after-school activities. A family vehicle is provided for all work-related driving.
  • Encourage the boys to develop independence by teaching them to tidy up after themselves, assist with post-dinner clean-up, and complete age-appropriate tasks.
  • Prepare healthy snacks and simple meals for the children.
  • Prepare the children's packed lunches for school.
  • Join the family on trips, including stays at their second home, for up to 3 weeks at a time.
  • Implement a "firm but fair" approach. They value a nanny who can set clear boundaries while remaining kind and loving.
  • Overseeing/switching out wardrobes seasonally and purchasing new clothing
  • Researching and registering children for classes and activities
  • Maintaining children’s schedule and managing shared calendar of activities/birthdays/classes
  • Packing for travel and ensuring that bags are prepared for school and extracurriculars
  • Planning educational and enriching activities for the children while on vacation
  • Monitoring correspondence related to the children and keeping parents abreast of important events and updates
  • Scheduling and attending doctor appointments with the children
  • Researching and ordering items online
  • Running errands as needed
