About The Position

This position is for a CDL Driver based in Muskogee, working a night shift. The driver will transport trailers between Muskogee, OK, and Emporia, Kansas, dropping off empty trailers and picking up loaded ones. The role involves securing loads with straps and tarps, loading and unloading materials at each stop, and taking safety precautions in various weather conditions. Adherence to DOT rules for weighing trucks, completing pre and post-trip inspections (DVIR), and safe driving practices are essential. The driver will also be responsible for inspecting, operating, and testing machinery and equipment, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensuring all required paperwork is completed in a timely manner. The role requires cooperation with customers, handling delivery paperwork, and following procedures for loading and unloading steel and supplies. Minor repairs to the tractor and trailer may be required, and the driver may need to stay out overnight or drive up to 11 hours depending on dispatching needs. The job involves significant physical demands, including lifting heavy materials and frequent climbing in and out of the truck cab. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Drive to Emporia, Kansas to drop off empty trailer and pick up loaded trailer to take back to Muskogee, OK.
  • Secure loads with straps and tarps.
  • Load and unload material at each stop.
  • Take safety precautions when weather is expected.
  • Follow DOT rules for weighing truck, completing DVIR for pre and post trips, and driving.
  • Inspect, operate and test machinery and equipment.
  • Wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment).
  • Ensure that all required paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
  • Obtain the proper paperwork and trailer with the load they are assigned.
  • Compare load to paperwork to ensure that the load is not short or long product before departing facility.
  • Cooperate with customers and handle required delivery paperwork.
  • Follow the process procedures in loading and unloading steel and supplies from the trailer.
  • Deliver product as dispatched.
  • Assist customer with unloading the product, as needed.
  • May be asked to do minor repairs to the tractor and trailer such as changing light bulbs, wiper blades etc.
  • May be required to stay out overnight as needed.
  • May be required to drive 11 hours.
  • Push or pull on tarps, chains, binders and bundles.
  • Climb in and out of the truck cab several times during the day.
  • Maintain the inside and outside cleanliness of the assigned tractor.
  • Follow all company conduct and safety rules and DOT regulations.
