About The Position

This is a Domicile Night Position where the driver will drive to Emporia, Kansas to drop off an empty trailer and pick up a loaded trailer to take back to Muskogee, OK. The Day Driver will then deliver the loaded trailer. The role involves securing loads, loading and unloading materials, taking safety precautions, and adhering to DOT regulations. The driver will also inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment, wear appropriate PPE, and complete required paperwork. Some runs may require overnight stays and up to 11 hours of driving. The position involves physical demands such as pushing/pulling tarps, chains, binders, and bundles, climbing in and out of the truck cab, and lifting materials ranging from 10-20 lbs constantly, 25-50 lbs frequently, and 50-100 lbs occasionally.

Requirements

  • Pass a drug test and background check
  • CDL Class A

Responsibilities

  • Securing loads with straps and tarps
  • Loading and unloading material at each stop
  • Taking safety precautions when weather is expected
  • Following DOT rules for weighing truck, completing DVIR for pre and post trips, and driving
  • Inspecting, operating and testing machinery and equipment
  • Wearing appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment)
  • Ensuring that all required paperwork is completed in a timely manner
  • Obtaining the proper paperwork and trailer with the load they are assigned
  • Comparing load to paperwork to ensure that the load is not short or long product before departing facility
  • Cooperating with customers and handling required delivery paperwork
  • Following process procedures in loading and unloading steel and supplies from the trailer
  • Delivering product as dispatched
  • Assisting customer with unloading the product, as needed
  • Performing minor repairs to the tractor and trailer such as changing light bulbs, wiper blades etc.
  • Staying out overnight as needed based on specific runs and dispatching needs
  • Driving up to 11 hours, determined by route and destination
  • Pushing or pulling on tarps, chains, binders and bundles
  • Climbing in and out of the truck cab several times during the day
  • Maintaining the inside and outside cleanliness of the assigned tractor
  • Following all company conduct and safety rules and DOT regulations
