About The Position

Guitar Center’s Music Teacher teaches music lessons to students according to the Guitar Center Lessons curriculum. The role works to increase student count and help each student continue to grow, develop, and enjoy playing music while supporting a culture of integrity, inclusion, musical passion, and respect. The teacher is expected to provide an excellent Customer experience and a welcoming, supportive learning environment. The Music Teacher partners with the store Lessons Lead to schedule and retain students based on community needs, assists with Customer service as needed, and builds long-term student relationships. The teacher also partners with students and families through frequent communication, shares student goals and progress, and builds trusting relationships with parents. Pay is listed as $15.00–$17.05 per hour at the non-teaching rate and up to $23.60 per hour at the total teaching rate, depending on background and experience. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, other factors, and location.

Requirements

Previous experience in music, education, or a related field.
Ability to teach an instrument in which the candidate is proficient, such as drums, guitar, or keyboard.
Demonstrated competency and proficiency in the area the candidate will teach.

Responsibilities

Partner with the store Lessons Lead to schedule and retain student headcount based on community needs.
Teach students using the Guitar Center Lessons curriculum.
Assist with Customer service as needed and create a positive experience that helps build and maintain long-term students.
Communicate frequently with students and families and build trusting relationships, recognizing parents’ knowledge of their child.
Communicate each student’s progress to the student and/or parents.
Share students’ and/or parents’ goals and progress frequently.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
