Specific duties and responsibilities: Provide individual/group music therapy to assigned students Provide an expressive freedom in combination with structure of each individual’s needs Conduct assessment of goal making procedures with each assigned student Coordinate treatment and approaches with teaching and related services staff Available for consultation with teacher and related services staff Maintain inventory, care of, and acquisition of musical instruments and equipment Generate regular progress reports for each assigned student and contribute to teacher’s IEP goals Plan and implement activities, such as singing, fine or gross motor movement, etc., while considering an individual’s goals Participates in staffing and program development Participates in planning/conducting in service training Serves as child study team member Participates on related services committees Seek grants/funding for musical instruments and equipment Maintains/turns in lesson plans weekly to the principal Controls classroom in a structured/non-authoritarian way Disciplines students while encouraging positive self-growth rather than punishment Attends yearly Primary Restraint Technique (PRT) training. Responsible for any miscellaneous duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor’s degree in music therapy is required, although a graduate degree in music therapy or a related field is preferred; Board certification in music therapy by the certification board for music therapists.
