Music Ensembles Assistant (Student) (FWS)
About The Position
This position is available only to enrolled American University students. Most student positions at American University are eligible to use Federal Work Study (FWS) awards, with a few exceptions. FWS funds cannot be applied to janitorial, construction, partisan or sectarian positions. This role involves assisting the Music Ensemble Director and Faculty with a variety of administrative tasks, including rehearsal and performance scheduling, tracking student attendance, preparing materials and equipment, facilitating stage set changes, and functioning as a stage manager. The assistant will be responsible for setting up before and striking the stage after rehearsals/performances as needed.
Requirements
- Current AU student with a Federal Work Study (FWS) award.
- Must be an enrolled American University student.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Music Ensemble Director and Faculty with a variety of administrative tasks.
- Assist with rehearsal and performance scheduling.
- Take and track student attendance throughout the semester.
- Prepare materials and equipment for rehearsal/performance use.
- Facilitate stage set changes.
- Function as stage manager as needed.
- Arrive before each class/performance for set-up.
- Remain after each class/performance to strike stage and return equipment to storage.
