About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Municipal Law Attorney to join a growing legal team representing public agency clients throughout California. This hybrid opportunity offers the chance to advise municipalities on a wide range of legal matters, including municipal governance, land use, zoning, public contracts, regulatory compliance, and development projects. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working with public agencies and providing practical legal counsel to city departments, elected officials, boards, and commissions.

Requirements

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Active member in good standing with the California State Bar.
Minimum 5 years of experience representing public agencies.
Strong experience in: Municipal Law, Land Use, Zoning, Planning, Public Contracts, Governance
Experience drafting and negotiating contracts and public agreements.
Ability to provide legal counsel directly to public agencies and government entities.
Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience serving as a City Attorney or Assistant City Attorney.
Knowledge of: Brown Act, California Public Records Act, California Government Code, Public Procurement, Real Estate Development, Environmental and Regulatory Compliance, Special Districts, Local Government Representation

Responsibilities

Provide legal counsel to public agencies on municipal law and governance matters.
Advise city departments, boards, commissions, and public officials on day-to-day legal issues.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, ordinances, resolutions, agreements, and other legal documents.
Handle land use, zoning, planning, development, and regulatory matters.
Conduct legal research and prepare written legal opinions.
Attend City Council, Planning Commission, and other public meetings as required.
Analyze legislation, regulations, and policies impacting local governments.
Support public procurement, real estate transactions, and development agreements.
Advise clients on compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
Develop practical legal strategies and risk management solutions for public agency clients.
