About The Position

This role is responsible for operating and maintaining Multivac machines and associated line equipment. The operator will ensure equipment is set up correctly, running efficiently, and meeting production targets. Key responsibilities include routine maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, quality control checks, and documentation.

Requirements

  • Pass Mechanical Aptitude Testing
  • Ability to inspect and maintain line equipment
  • Proficiency in verifying recipe settings
  • Ability to change film and adjust machine settings
  • Skill in coordinating with QA for O2 readings and burst tests
  • Ability to track Aptean issues and report performance-related problems
  • Capability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and make adjustments
  • Willingness to work with Maintenance technicians on PM work
  • Ability to document and log equipment issues
  • Ability to submit final paperwork

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Multivac machines
  • Experience with checkweighers, metal detectors, code daters, labelers, ADCO
  • Familiarity with Aptean software

Responsibilities

  • Define tasks of Equipment Operator/Line Technician
  • Successfully pass Mechanical Aptitude Testing
  • Set up equipment
  • Inspect and maintain all line equipment, including Multivac, checkweigher/Metal Detector, Code Dater, Labelers, ADCO, etc.
  • Verify recipe settings are correct
  • Ensure all lines start at the scheduled shift time (6:00 am - 1st Shift/3:00 pm - 2nd Shift)
  • Document and report late starts to the Plant Manager and Maintenance Supervisor
  • Achieve and maintain a target line speed of a minimum of 70 packs/min
  • Inspect packages and collaborate with line leads/operations supervisor to improve tray filling and overall process quality
  • Change film, adjust print format, and modify machine settings to maintain efficient line operation and reduce rework
  • Verify that O2 reading and burst test results meet acceptance criteria in coordination with QA
  • Track Aptean issues and report any problems hindering the line from reaching the targeted 70 packs/min
  • Select the correct DT code if the machine is stopped
  • Attempt to resolve mechanical issues through known adjustments; escalate to maintenance and Plant Manager if unresolved
  • Work with Maintenance technicians on assigned PM (Preventive Maintenance) work, which may include weekends
  • Monitor Aptean and log all equipment issues correctly
  • Submit final paperwork to the Plant Manager and Maintenance Supervisor at the end of the shift
