About The Position

This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating various types of heavy equipment in a crushed stone or sand and gravel quarry. The Multi-Skill Equipment Operator operates loaders, excavators, haul trucks, dozers, graders, and other equipment as needed to support quarry operations and production goals. The role also involves equipment inspections and basic maintenance, moving materials, maintaining haul roads and work areas, and assisting with stockpile management, plant feeding, and general site maintenance.

Requirements

Less than two years of experience operating heavy equipment in a quarry or similar environment.
Proven experience operating various types of heavy equipment.
Strong understanding of safety protocols and MSHA regulations.
Ability to safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery in challenging terrain.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
Physical ability to climb ladders, sit for extended periods, and withstand vibrations.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment maintenance.
Ability to recognize and follow safety protocols, identify hazards, and help mitigate risks.
Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report signs of malfunction to the maintenance team.
Ability to solve work-related problems using practical knowledge and hands-on skills.
Ability to coordinate with other operators, dispatch/scale house, and ground personnel.
Ability to adapt to changing conditions and challenges.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Trade school diploma or certificate in equipment operation is highly desired.

Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently operate front-end loaders, excavators, haul trucks, dozers, graders, and other equipment as needed.
Maintain precise control of equipment while adapting to varying terrain and weather conditions.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, report maintenance needs and safety concerns, and complete basic maintenance checks.
Load and unload raw materials, finished products, and waste materials.
Excavate and move earth, rock, and other materials to support quarry operations.
Maintain haul roads and work areas to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow.
Assist with stockpile management, plant feeding, and general site maintenance.
Collaborate with maintenance teams on repairs and preventive maintenance.
Follow safety regulations and protocols, wear appropriate PPE, and follow quarry traffic rules.
Maintain situational awareness and promptly report safety concerns, incidents, and equipment malfunctions.
Follow environmental regulations related to dust control, spillage prevention, and responsible equipment operation.
Optimize equipment utilization and minimize downtime to support productivity.
Work with team members to ensure efficient material flow and task completion.
Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, materials moved, and tasks completed, and complete required paperwork or electronic documentation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
