Multi-Family Maintenance Technician
About The Position
Under the direction of the Service Director and Property Manager, the Maintenance Technician at The Alden in Pittsburgh performs general maintenance, groundskeeping, and housekeeping services to support excellent curb appeal and the quality of apartment homes, while responding to customer service requests. The role pays a starting rate of $23 per hour, based on experience, with an additional $15 per day during scheduled on-call weeks. The technician performs preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, janitorial services, apartment refurbishing and renovations, and related duties. The position also involves daily property walks, maintaining accurate task records, supporting safety practices, and responding to scheduled weekend, on-call, and after-hours emergency service requests.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- CFC Type I & II certification preferred; obtain it within 180 days of hire.
- Valid driver’s license.
- At least 1 year of maintenance experience.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to walk grounds and apartments, ascend stairs, lift 60 pounds, climb ladders over 10 feet, and perform physical activities such as bending, kneeling, and pushing.
- Sufficient knowledge to thoroughly complete a maintenance assessment to the standards of a Service Technician I.

Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, and janitorial services as assigned.
- Assist with maintenance of the storage area and maintenance materials.
- Refurbish and renovate apartments according to company standards.
- Walk the property daily to check curb appeal and apartment quality.
- Notify the Business Manager of safety concerns and participate in safety meetings.
- Maintain knowledge of property-specific issues, such as asbestos.
- Assist with snow removal as required.
- Complete other duties as required.
- Maintain accurate records of completed tasks.
- Complete service requests in accordance with company standards.
- Be available for scheduled weekend work, on-call duties, and after-hours emergency service requests, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
