About The Position

AMD is hiring an MTS Systems Design Engineer to develop and refine thermal and mechanical solutions for products incorporating AMD silicon. The role works closely with cross-functional teams, including ASIC and mechanical engineers, and supports customers through thermal design and debugging from initial simulations and feasibility studies through final product testing and release. The position also advises customers on mechanical design, thermal management, material selection, assembly procedures, and product improvements, while helping ensure optimal performance in varied environmental conditions. The engineer will work directly with customers to gather feedback, resolve thermal and mechanical issues, and provide recommendations. The role includes training customers on the use and maintenance of thermal and mechanical systems, producing reports and presentations on design processes and thermal performance, and providing ongoing technical support to improve product longevity and performance. Travel is not required.

Requirements

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, and three years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in one of these fields and five years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.
Three years of experience with thermal and mechanical design software such as SolidWorks, ANSYS Mechanical, FloTherm, and ICEPAK.
Three years of experience conducting simulations, feasibility studies, and detailed performance analysis.
Three years of experience troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving complex thermal and mechanical issues.
Three years of experience with thermal mechanical systems testing and validation.
Three years of experience scripting for automation and customization of processes.
Three years of experience in product development with hardware platforms and software and firmware ecosystems.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with ASIC and mechanical engineers to create and refine thermal and mechanical solutions for products incorporating AMD silicon.
Support customers through thermal design and debugging, including simulations, feasibility studies, product testing, and release.
Assist customers with mechanical design, including enclosures, heat sinks, and other components aligned with thermal management strategies.
Collect customer feedback, address thermal and mechanical issues, and recommend improvements to system designs.
Design and conduct customer training on the proper use and maintenance of thermal and mechanical systems.
Prepare reports and presentations describing design processes and thermal performance metrics, and communicate solutions for customer approval before product release.
Provide ongoing customer-adoption support and suggest design updates to improve product longevity and performance.
Provide guidance on thermal management, mechanical configurations, material selection, and assembly procedures for systems using AMD silicon.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex product issues with customers.
Maintain customer relationships and serve as a technical advisor.
