About The Position

The MRO Purchasing & Inventory Control Specialist leads the transformation of JSC’s MRO operations into a system-driven, benchmark manufacturing framework. The role moves replenishment from manual, experience-dependent practices to an automated, ERP-driven (Plex) Min/Max procurement model. It oversees MRO part-number setup and maintenance, inventory accuracy and cycle counting, 5S organization of storage areas, supplier alignment, freight and logistics, and development of the internal MRO team to support sustainable operations across JSC and the broader group. The position also supports procurement optimization across group locations and plant departments, including strategic sourcing and cost-reduction initiatives. It coordinates transportation for MRO purchases, repairs, and equipment transfers, and supports PPE management and industrial laundry vendor operations as PPE transitions toward automated vending systems.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in MRO inventory management, tool crib operations, or industrial purchasing in a manufacturing plant environment.
Demonstrated experience leading 5S transformations, ERP master setups, and inventory-accuracy improvement programs.
Strong proficiency with ERP inventory systems.
Practical expertise in inventory control, cycle-counting methodologies, 5S standards, freight and courier shipping terms such as FOB/FCA, and automated replenishment technologies such as barcode scanning and vending.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
Fluency in written and spoken English.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a relevant technical field.
Experience with Plex ERP.
Working proficiency or fluency in Japanese and/or Spanish.

Responsibilities

Lead Plex registration and Min/Max threshold configuration for primary MRO items; audit and disable obsolete or inactive part numbers and implement system-triggered replenishment controls.
Maintain oversight of primary and critical MRO part numbers, standardizing cataloging, descriptions, and supplier cross-references.
Establish and oversee routine MRO inventory cycle counts, and train team members in counting procedures to achieve and maintain inventory accuracy targets of 90% or higher.
Drive 5S implementation across MRO storage, bin, and work areas; coordinate space optimization, bin repairs, labeling, and removal of non-MRO clutter.
Enforce physical access and checkout security controls to maintain inventory integrity.
Lead and organize MRO team members through daily direction, task assignment, and hands-on guidance; mentor associates in system and operational skills to support autonomous long-term management.
Realign team responsibilities by transferring non-core administrative tasks to the appropriate functional departments.
Align procurement channels with primary corporate suppliers and direct equipment manufacturers, reducing reliance on high-markup third-party brokers.
Streamline purchase-order approval workflows based on established spend thresholds.
Oversee procurement automation initiatives, including barcode scanning and automated vending systems.
Participate in regional purchasing initiatives and collaborate with other group locations, plants, and internal departments to advance group-wide purchasing optimization, strategic sourcing, and cost reduction.
Coordinate transportation, courier services, and freight logistics for MRO purchases, tool/die/part repair services, and equipment transfers, including arrangements involving FOB, FCA, or other supplier shipping terms.
Oversee and support PPE management, including collection-box operations, laundered PPE replenishment, and communication and contract management with industrial laundry suppliers.
