The MRI Technologist Lead is responsible for the supervision of all services to meet department standards of care and/or respond to demand by the customer or referring physicians. This role involves monitoring technical competence of staff, resolving patient/physician complaints, scheduling technical staff, critiquing student performance, issuing holiday schedules, assigning after-hours trauma call, maintaining records, reviewing patient schedules for satisfaction, responding to nursing units and outpatient scheduling regarding add-ons, and preparing/implementing employee training plans. The lead also orders and maintains department supplies, ensures equipment is clean and in working order, and performs diagnostic tests as required. Additionally, the role focuses on developing and maintaining an environment conducive to employee satisfaction, including preparing orientation programs, developing training plans, participating in in-servicing, following up on quality improvement suggestions, adjusting staffing, approving hours worked, conducting staff meetings, preparing performance reviews, monitoring safety and housekeeping, and working with other departments on scheduling and equipment repairs. The position is responsible for Siemens scanners, Philips scanners, Siemens magnets, Philips magnets, and MedRad injectors, including maintaining preventative maintenance schedules, assisting in negotiating service contracts, and reviewing service reports. The lead also assists in the development, interpretation, and monitoring of department policies, budgets, and strategic plans, and maintains technical, organizational, and communication skills through continuous learning and staff engagement. Compliance with accrediting organizations and department safety standards, including radiation safety and universal precautions, is also a key responsibility. The role provides patient care specific to procedural requirements and patients’ needs within established Department protocols, including responding to complaints, coordinating exams, maintaining confidentiality, and providing transportation when needed.
