MRB Analysis Engineer, Fury

Anduril•Costa Mesa, CA

About The Position

The MRB Analysis Engineer will serve as the engineering authority for dispositioning Material Review Board (MRB) non-conformances involving metallic and composite primary and secondary structures on Group 5 air vehicles. The role performs structural substantiation—including static strength, fatigue, damage tolerance, and buckling—using first-principles hand calculations and finite element methods. The engineer prepares defensible disposition packages to restore airworthiness and meet program certification requirements, and evaluates use-as-is, repair, rework, or scrap outcomes. The position also improves MRB methods, tools, and standard dispositions as production scales; monitors recurring non-conformances and drives root-cause and corrective-action efforts; and coordinates with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Design, and Materials & Processes. It includes on-floor engineering support during builds and travel to manufacturing, integration, vendor, production, and test sites as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in aerospace structural analysis, with direct experience dispositioning non-conformances through MRB, liaison, or stress engineering.
  • Strong understanding of static strength, fatigue, damage tolerance, and load path analysis for metallic and composite structures.
  • Proficiency with finite element analysis tools such as NASTRAN or equivalent, and classical hand-calculation methods.
  • Experience analyzing and substantiating repairs for metallic and composite aircraft structures.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, technically rigorous disposition packages under schedule pressure.
  • Self-driven, autonomous, and adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to vendors, production, and test sites as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior MRB signature or delegated authority on a production aerospace program.
  • Experience in high-rate or rapidly scaling production environments.
  • Familiarity with military airworthiness and structural substantiation standards such as MIL-HDBK-5 and MIL-STD-1530.
  • Experience with composite laminate fastened and bonded structure repair.
  • CATIA or Siemens NX proficiency.
  • Hands-on experience in an aircraft manufacturing or depot repair environment.
  • Broad experience across a range of aircraft or missile programs.

Responsibilities

  • Disposition MRB non-conformances for metallic and composite primary and secondary structures on Group 5 air vehicles.
  • Perform structural substantiation analysis, including static strength, fatigue, damage tolerance, and buckling, using hand calculations and finite element methods.
  • Prepare clear, defensible disposition packages that restore airworthiness and meet program certification requirements.
  • Develop and improve MRB work methods, tools, and standard dispositions as production rates increase.
  • Monitor recurring non-conformances and drive root-cause and corrective-action efforts with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Materials & Processes.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Design, and Materials & Processes to resolve non-conformances while preserving structural integrity.
  • Conduct trade studies comparing repair, rework, and scrap decisions, balancing schedule, cost, and performance.
  • Provide on-the-floor engineering support during builds, including occasional travel to manufacturing and integration sites.
  • Travel to vendors, production, and test sites as needed to support hardware builds and troubleshoot issues.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits package described as comprehensive and competitive, available at little to no cost to employees.
