About The Position

Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is currently seeking experienced Motor Grader Operators to join their team. This is a full-time role reporting to the Foreman - Grading & Pipe. Nights and/or weekends may be required in addition to regular day shifts. The primary job function is to operate a motor grader to perform grading tasks, ensuring precision and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Willingness and ability to perform manual work and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently.
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment-vest, steel-toed boots, helmet.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue, and to effectively jump, sprint, or throw an object.
  • Good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
  • Ability to quickly move arms and legs.
  • Ability to sit for an extended period of time and the eye/hand/feet ability and coordination to operate a manual transmission and clutch in both trucks and any other equipment being driven.
  • Able to climb stairs/ steps and to use handrails to climb and exit the equipment’s raised cab.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA and company policy.

Nice To Haves

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a motor grader to perform fine grading for paving, drainage, and other construction projects.
  • Maintain proper grade using automated grade controls, lasers, or by following manual instructions.
  • Assist in site preparation by cutting, leveling, and smoothing surfaces to meet project specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and minor adjustments on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and grade stakes.
  • Work collaboratively with the Foreman and other team members to achieve daily production goals.
  • Assist with other tasks as needed, including material handling and job site clean-up.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with the crew in manual labor when not operating equipment.
