Southern Bancorp is a unique bank operating as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Our mission is to build wealth for everyone in the communities we serve, with a particular focus on low-wealth, un(der)banked populations, and Black and Brown individuals. We combine traditional banking and lending with financial development tools and public policy advocacy. We are seeking Mortgage Community Development Managers (CDM) to originate quality mortgage loans for low to moderate income (LMI) and minority borrowers in partnership with external non-profit organizations. The CDM will ensure that all housing non-profit partners are aware of the bank's mortgage loan products and services. This role requires a deep understanding of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) as it relates to lending, knowledge of grants and subsidy programs for affordable housing, and comprehensive knowledge of affordable housing and first-time homebuyer education programs. Additionally, the role demands a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements including the Home Loan Disclosure Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures, Reg. Z, Federal Truth in Lending, Fair Housing, HUD regulations, Client/FHLMC Requirements, and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. The individual will also demonstrate Manager leadership competencies such as Empowering Leadership, Business and Financial Acumen, Information Decision Making and Problem Solving, Managing Talent, Strategic Execution and Direction, and Owning Results.
