WPHL-TV is seeking Spring semester interns for its morning news department. Interns gain hands-on experience working with producers, anchors, and reporters both at the station and in the field. At the station, they research and write stories for the morning broadcast, contact sources for additional information when needed, and may edit video using Adobe Premiere after training. They also manage PHL17’s social media posts during the show and coordinate guests before, during, and after their segments. In the field, interns learn to use camera equipment, identify effective camera shots, and understand how reporters gather information for live shots. They may coordinate interviews and attend press conferences as field producers. Interns interested in directing and producing can shadow control-room producers and may eventually produce part of the show. Students interested in on-air work can receive help from anchors and reporters in crafting a reel.
