WPHL-TV is seeking Spring semester interns to gain hands-on experience in the morning news department. Interns work with producers, anchors, and reporters at the station and in the field. At the station, they help research and write stories for the morning broadcast and may contact sources for additional information. After training, they can help edit video using Adobe Premiere. Interns also manage PHL17’s social media posts on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter during the show, and coordinate guests before, during, and after their segments. In the field, they learn about camera equipment and shot selection and observe how reporters gather information for live shots. They may coordinate interviews and attend press conferences as field producers. Interns can also shadow producers in the control room and may have the opportunity to produce part of the show. Students interested in on-air work can receive help from anchors and reporters in creating a reel.
