About The Position

The Morning Cook prepares and cooks food items according to menus and recipes, and expedites orders accurately and promptly. The role supports food service at the Omaha Marriott Downtown by maintaining food quality, presentation, sanitation, and communication with kitchen colleagues, wait staff, and management. The listed shift is 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; the position may also require varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours.

Requirements

At least 3 years of cooking experience.
High school degree or equivalent.
Ability to work varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours.
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 100 pounds; stand for long periods; and work in extreme temperatures and under pressure.
Proficiency at sauté, line, and broiler stations, and ability to read orders from a POS system.
Ability to cut, dice, and julienne fresh produce using proper techniques.
Familiarity with seafood stocks, grilling, sautéing, deep frying, and cold food preparation.
Ability to obtain necessary sanitation, liquor service, or food service certifications.
Knowledge of proper cooking procedures, knife handling, and kitchen tools.
Ability to read POS orders and understand English.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook food quickly, correctly, and according to required recipes, completing work in a timely fashion.
Store food properly, including rotation, dating, and labeling.
Determine food inventory and requisition items from the storeroom.
Set up equipment needed for preparation before service.
Maintain high food-production and presentation standards, ensuring plates appear crisp and clean.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the cooking area and maintain personal hygiene.
Communicate with other cooks, wait staff, and management.
Perform other duties as assigned.
