About The Position

The Morning Care Aide is responsible for providing a safe, welcoming, and structured environment for students participating in the school's morning care program. The Morning Care Aide supervises students before the start of the school day, greets students and families, facilitates age-appropriate activities, and promotes a positive environment where children feel safe, respected, and supported. The Morning Care Aide works collaboratively with teachers, classroom aides, school staff, parents, and administrators to ensure students transition smoothly from morning care into the regular school day. This position serves as a positive role model for students and supports the mission and values of the school.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to supervise and manage groups of children calmly, confidently, and effectively.
  • Friendly, dependable, patient, and professional demeanor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students and families.
  • Ability to follow school policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing environment.
  • Ability to work consistently during early morning hours.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all students.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the designated supervision areas during the shift.
  • Must be able to actively engage with and supervise children throughout the morning care period.
  • Must be able to respond appropriately to routine and emergency situations involving students.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with children in a school, daycare, church, camp, recreation, or similar setting preferred.
  • Experience supervising groups of children preferred.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred; applicants of other faith traditions must be respectful of and supportive of the school's Catholic mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise students throughout morning care hours to ensure their safety, security, and well-being.
  • Maintain appropriate supervision of students at all times, whether activities take place indoors or outdoors.
  • Monitor student behavior and promote respectful, kind, and appropriate interactions.
  • Respond appropriately to student needs and concerns.
  • Follow all school safety policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Promptly report injuries, behavioral concerns, safety issues, or other incidents to the appropriate school leadership.
  • Greet students and families in a warm, welcoming, and professional manner.
  • Provide age-appropriate activities such as reading, drawing, quiet games, and other supervised activities.
  • Encourage positive social interactions and respectful behavior among students.
  • Create a calm and structured environment that helps students prepare for a successful school day.
  • Support students in transitioning appropriately from morning care activities to their classroom routines.
  • Ensure a smooth and organized handoff of students to teachers, classroom aides, or other designated school personnel at the start of the school day.
  • Communicate relevant student information or concerns to the appropriate staff members.
  • Follow established procedures for student arrival, attendance, and transition to classrooms.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and complete other required documentation.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with parents, guardians, teachers, staff, and administrators.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding students and families.
  • Report concerns or unusual circumstances to school leadership in a timely manner.
  • Support and uphold the mission, values, and policies of the school.
  • Model patience, kindness, respect, responsibility, and professionalism in interactions with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Contribute to a welcoming and supportive school community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership.
