About The Position

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for monitoring telemetry set up on patients. This role may be filled as a Monitor Technician I, II, or III depending on individual qualifications, experience, and business need. The technician will monitor the patient once nursing staff have attached the patient to the telemetry unit, check for accurate date/time printout on rhythm strips, and provide daily printings of each patient’s rhythm strip. Maintaining appropriate alarm settings for each patient, assisting in troubleshooting monitor equipment, and alerting staff when a patient is in crisis are key responsibilities. The role also includes performing ECGs as needed and maintaining supplies for the monitor area. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • No experience required
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire
  • Good computer skills
  • Good interpersonal skills that allow for developing effective working relationships with staff

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of basic arrhythmia interpretations and performing ECG tracings is helpful
