About The Position

The Monitor Technician continuously observes patients’ heartbeat patterns and identifies irregularities in their telemetry rhythms. The technician ensures heart monitors are functioning correctly, troubleshoots monitoring problems by recognizing issues and identifying probable causes, and seeks solutions to correct them. Any concerns are reported to the RN caring for the patient or the charge nurse. This is a full-time position at Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with a 0.90 FTE. The schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and includes every third weekend.

Requirements

High school degree or equivalent.
AHA BLS required prior to completion of orientation.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

Continuously observe patients’ heartbeat patterns.
Note heartbeat irregularities in patients’ telemetry rhythms.
Ensure heart monitors are functioning correctly.
Troubleshoot monitoring problems by recognizing problems, identifying probable causes, and seeking solutions.
Report concerns to the RN in charge of the patient or the charge nurse.
