About The Position

The Monitor Tech identifies and communicates cardiac rhythm irregularities to other team members and provides coverage and observation of cardiac monitors. The position communicates changes in cardiac rhythm and recognizes life-threatening dysrhythmias. It also obtains and documents EKG interpretations at rest and with each exercise modality, and recognizes, reports, documents, and communicates EKG changes.

Requirements

Excellent customer service skills.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to interpret and analyze electrocardiogram rhythms.
High school diploma or equivalent GED.
Within 90 days of hire, complete a basic EKG course or EKG exam.
Complete a cardiac monitor technician program designed for unlicensed health care providers.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a cardiac monitor technician program designed for unlicensed health care providers.
One year of hospital monitor tech experience.

Responsibilities

Observe cardiac monitors for selected patients and recognize, analyze, and interpret significant rhythm changes and life-threatening rhythms.
Obtain and document EKG interpretations at rest and with each exercise modality.
Recognize, report, document, and communicate EKG changes.
Recognize medications and illnesses that affect cardiac rhythm.
Assess and prioritize a rapidly changing workload and complete work in a timely manner.
Participate in department management by providing input at meetings and reading communications.
Help organize, track, stock, and store supplies and equipment, and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
Perform other related tasks or responsibilities as assigned.
