About The Position

Assist the driver in the safe operation of the route and manage students as defined or identified by the school. The role supports student safety and supervision throughout bus operations, including boarding, unloading, inspections, and emergency procedures. It also includes cleaning the inside of the bus and performing other specialized functions as required by contract.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work early morning hours.
• Maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward fellow employees and customers.
• Dress professionally and appropriately for a business environment.
• Perform job functions safely in accordance with OSHA guidelines and applicable federal and state laws.
• Follow company policies and procedures while performing job duties.
• Ability to use or learn to use the internet, additional programs as required, and office equipment, including fax machines, phones, or other electronic devices.
• Ability to successfully complete a dexterity test and DOT physical and comply with the drug-free workplace policy.
• Ability to communicate in English with passengers, parents, school officials, dispatch, and the driver.

Responsibilities

• Learn and follow a route sheet or electronic routing device.
• Manage students and communicate behavior problems to the driver.
• Assist with pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections, including child checks, CSRS, and wheelchair lifts.
• Assist students with loading and unloading, including use of the wheelchair lift.
• Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, parents, and students.
• Attend safety and training meetings.
• Conduct emergency bus evacuations, including through the emergency door.
• Clean the inside of the bus, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows.
• Perform other specialized functions as required by contract.
