About The Position
Illinois Central School Bus, a division of North America Central School Bus, is seeking Bus Aides to join its team in O'Fallon, Illinois. The role involves monitoring passenger welfare and behavior, assisting students with boarding and exiting, supporting the driver with inspections and paperwork, and maintaining the bus interior. Aides also attend safety and training meetings and perform other specialized functions as required by contract. Wages are based on experience. The position is part-time and pays $17.47 per hour.
Requirements
- Good verbal communication skills.
- At least 21 years old.
- Hold a valid state ID.
- Pass a background check, drug screen, and physical.
Responsibilities
- Know the route and remain alert to monitor passengers’ welfare while en route.
- Maintain order on the bus.
- Communicate behavior problems and conditions at various stops to the driver.
- Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, parents, and students.
- Assist with pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections, including child checks, CSRS, and wheelchair lifts.
- Assist students with loading and unloading.
- Attend safety and training meetings.
- Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus, including through the emergency door.
- Physically remove a disabled child from the bus when required.
- Assist the driver in completing required paperwork for the district, state, ICSB, and others.
- Clean the inside of the bus, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows.
- Perform other specialized functions as required by contract.
