About The Position

Illinois Central School Bus, a division of North America Central School Bus, is seeking Bus Aides to join its team in O'Fallon, Illinois. The Monitor/Aide helps ensure passenger welfare and order while en route, assists students with boarding and exiting, and supports the driver with inspections, emergency procedures, paperwork, and bus cleaning. The role also includes communicating with school personnel, parents, and students, attending safety and training meetings, and performing other specialized functions as required by contract. Wages are based on experience. The position is part-time and pays $17.47 per hour. COVID-19 precautions include provided or required personal protective equipment, temperature screenings, social distancing guidelines, and sanitizing, disinfecting, or cleaning procedures.

Requirements

Good verbal communication skills.
Be at least 21 years old.
Hold a valid state ID.
Pass a background check, drug screen, and physical.

Responsibilities

Know the route and remain alert to monitor passengers’ welfare while en route.
Keep order on the bus.
Communicate behavior problems and conditions at various stops to the driver.
Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, parents, and students.
Assist with pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections, including child checks, CSRS, and wheelchair lifts.
Assist students with loading and unloading.
Attend all safety and training meetings.
Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus, including exits through the emergency door; this may include physically removing a disabled child from the bus.
Assist the driver in completing required paperwork for the District, State, ICSB, and other entities.
Clean the inside of the bus, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows.
Perform other specialized functions as required by contract.
