About The Position

The Department of Literature, Journalism, Writing, and Languages at PLNU is seeking candidates for an adjunct teaching position in modern languages. The University is seeking an individual capable of excellent teaching with teaching experience and fluency in French, German, or Chinese. This is an in-person teaching position. Responsibilities begin August 2026 and will include teaching a wide variety of elementary modern language courses including French, German, and Chinese.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a specified discipline.
  • Evidence of a commitment to excellence in (undergraduate/graduate) teaching.
  • Thorough commitment to the concept of Christian liberal arts education and a desire to work in a Christian university.
  • Supportive of the religious and educational goals of the university and its sponsoring denomination.
  • Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement.
  • Agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate preferred.
  • A minimum of one year teaching experience and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in the area of French, German, and/or Chinese including some general education and service courses
  • Work strategically with diverse colleagues, students, parents and community members

Benefits

  • PLNU adjunct pay: Using a 3-unit full semester appointment as a pay guide, the adjunct pay range is $5,013 - $6,684. The units will determine the actual salary.
