About The Position
The Biology Department’s Model Organism Kitchen is seeking an undergraduate assistant eligible for Federal Work Study for the 26-27 academic year. This role involves producing critical growth media and other research materials for labs that utilize the model organisms Drosophila melanogaster and Caenorhabditis elegans. The assistant will follow protocols to create materials and reagents, package them for delivery, make deliveries to laboratories, and wash and sterilize glassware.
Requirements
- Eligible for Federal Work Study
- Current UVA student
- Able to learn and follow complex procedures
- Able to spot and address problems in quality control
- Comfortable using tools and equipment
- Resume required
Nice To Haves
- Back-of-house experience in food service, retail, etc. is preferred.
Responsibilities
