Model-Based Systems Engineer, Mid

Booz Allen Hamilton•Lexington Park, MD
•$61,900 - $141,000•Hybrid

About The Position

As a Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE), you will engineer systems in support of a client’s digital engineering mission. You will provide engineering technical direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development, and implementation for complex systems to meet technical objectives. The role includes designing model-based systems and developing digital twin models and architectures for government defense systems. You will help evaluate and modernize how clients connect digital tools and techniques with systems engineering, cybersecurity, and product development, while building experience across complex, integrated systems and turning requirements into engineering solutions.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience with systems engineering, integration, and MBSE.
  • At least 1 year of experience using digital engineering tools to design DoD systems.
  • Experience architecting solutions from user requirements and use cases for application across a systems engineering life cycle.
  • Experience with modeling tools such as Magic Draw or Cameo, Sparx Enterprise Architect, or IBM Rhapsody.
  • Experience applying Unified Modeling Language (UML) or Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
  • Ability to use MBSE tools and processes to create and manage tailored MBSE artifacts capturing analysis and engineering decisions and trades during acquisition and development.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, dynamic team environment with internal staff, external contractors, and government clients.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting acquisition programs and government clients.
  • Experience extending systems models into analysis tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or STK, and model-based product-support tools such as Teamcenter or Windchill.
  • Experience with scripting languages, including Velocity Template Language.
  • Experience using system models during government engineering reviews and in systems engineering disciplines such as configuration management, risk management, cybersecurity, and cyber certification.
  • Knowledge of modular open systems approach (MOSA) design principles and technologies, DoD architecture standards and framework, and Agile systems engineering methods and tools.
  • Knowledge of DoDD 5000.01, DoDI 5000.02, the System Development Life Cycle, and object-oriented programming languages such as C++, Java, or Python.
  • Secret clearance.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics.
  • Object Management Group (OMG) Certified System Modeling Language Professional (OCSMP) Model User or Builder Certification.
  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional Certification, including ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction for problem definition, analysis, requirements development, and implementation for complex systems.
  • Design model-based systems and develop digital twin models and architectures in support of government defense systems.
  • Use MBSE tools and processes to create and manage tailored MBSE artifacts that document analysis and engineering decisions and trades during acquisition and development.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams, external contractors, and government clients to increase the use of MBSE in client acquisition programs.
  • Help evaluate and modernize the use of digital tools and techniques in systems engineering, cybersecurity, and product development.
