About The Position

PMAT is seeking an experienced mid-level Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to support enterprise architecture development, digital engineering, and system-of-systems (SoS) integration across Navy operational and technical environments. The role supports the design, development, integration, and verification of complex systems for defense and national security missions. It helps establish and maintain standardized architecture development processes, governance frameworks, data structures, and modeling practices to enable consistent engineering and informed organizational decision-making. The engineer will collaborate with systems and mission engineers, cybersecurity personnel, data engineers, Palantir developers, software developers, and other technical stakeholders to connect architectural models, operational data, requirements, and engineering artifacts in digital environments. The position applies systems engineering fundamentals and model-based methodologies to translate operational requirements into structured architectures, data models, and actionable engineering insights for capability development, integration, and sustainment. The role includes developing and maintaining system architectures, requirements, technical baselines, models, interfaces, and engineering documentation; supporting requirements traceability, analysis, and change management; and applying models to engineering analysis, trade studies, simulation, and risk assessment. It also supports system integration, interoperability, verification and validation, digital engineering practices, model configuration management, and technical reviews. The engineer independently executes assigned work, coordinates with technical leads and program management, communicates findings to stakeholders, and provides technical guidance to junior engineers. The position requires U.S. citizenship and a SECRET security clearance. Work may take place at PMAT offices or, in some cases, a government facility. The listed preferred locations are Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland; Denver, Colorado is listed as remote. Travel is 15% CONUS and OCONUS and may support customer engagement, team coordination, or business development.
