About The Position

Primordial Labs is hiring a model-based systems engineer to develop and maintain the technical ground-truth model for Anura and the systems it operates within. Anura translates spoken or typed intent into structured actions across drones, sensors, and mission software. The role covers software-intensive systems—including services, APIs, data flows, deployments, and internal software processes—as well as the hardware and network interfaces at their edges. You will work closely with software engineers, map the company’s architecture to partner and government reference frameworks, define and trace requirements through verification, and contribute model content to reviews, proposals, and prime deliverables. You will also help establish systems engineering practices as the company grows. The position is fully remote for residents of the United States and requires U.S. citizenship, current U.S. residency, and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of systems engineering experience on software-intensive or networked systems.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on MBSE experience, including end-to-end model development and management.
  • Expertise modeling structure, behavior, and interfaces in SysML, preferably SysML v2, or a comparable language.
  • Strong understanding of software design and architecture, microservices and distributed systems, APIs, version control, CI/CD, and agile delivery, with the ability to model internal software processes.
  • Experience defining hardware/software interfaces, such as ICDs, protocols, data links, radios, sensors, or embedded hosts.
  • Requirements engineering and verification traceability experience, especially in defense applications.
  • Familiarity with government reference architectures and frameworks.
  • Experience working with the military, defense primes, or government programs.
  • Clear writing and the ability to explain technical architecture to non-engineers and user needs and desired behaviors to engineers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship and current residency within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage the system model used as the company’s technical ground truth.
  • Model services, APIs, data flows, deployments, internal software processes, and associated hardware and network interfaces.
  • Partner with software engineers and understand how software is designed, built, tested, and released.
  • Map the company’s architecture to reference architectures and frameworks used by partners and government programs.
  • Define requirements and trace them through to verification.
  • Contribute model content to design reviews, proposals, and prime deliverables.
  • Help define and develop systems engineering practices as the company grows.

Benefits

  • Significant equity stake.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • 401(k) with a 6% company match.
  • Discretionary time off (DTO).
  • Elite technology package.
