About The Position

The Mobile Unit Driver performs driving, general maintenance, cleaning, and stocking of the Mobile Unit. This role is crucial for ensuring the Mobile Unit is operational and ready to serve patients in the community, particularly within migrant program activities. The driver works in conjunction with various healthcare professionals to provide integrated healthcare services and acts as a patient advocate for vulnerable populations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience driving and maintaining large vehicles
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Minimum of 3 years of licensed driving experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to work independently
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must work well with the patient care team
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and experience driving large vehicles
  • Knowledge of Colorado’s driving laws
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Skilled driver
  • Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions
  • Sensitivity to low-income and ethnic minority communities is a requirement

Responsibilities

  • Drive the Mobile Unit from the assigned parking space to the scheduled location within the migrant program activities.
  • Inspect the Mobile Unit every time it is used using the “Mobile Unit Inspection Report,” making sure the vehicle is in adequate condition to be used.
  • Monitors inventory from the Mobile Unit, assuring medical supplies are always sufficient before going out to a location.
  • Provides reports of inventory (supplies) to the Migrant Health Director.
  • Keep the Mobile Unit clean (including sweeping and mopping of the floors, cleaning of counters and other surfaces of the Mobile Unit).
  • In case maintenance of the engine, chassis, or the airstream is needed, schedule the repair through the Facilities Director.
  • Works in conjunction with Medical Providers, Medical Assistants, Enrollment Specialists, Customer Service Associates, and all other staff to ensure that patients obtain the highest standard of integrated health care.
  • Acts as a patient advocate for our vulnerable populations by ensuring that patients are fully informed and comfortable with their visit to Salud.
  • Assists in ensuring the assurance of providing good quality services during visits to the Mobile Unit.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Follows procedures for the electronic health records system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
