About The Position

The Medical Mobile Unit Driver is responsible for picking up the Medical Mobile Unit from storage and transporting medical staff to designated areas safely and on schedule. This role involves maintaining the cleanliness and operational status of the unit, completing daily logs, setting up and breaking down materials, ensuring the safety of parked vehicles, and monitoring fluid levels. The position is per diem, with an estimated 0-8 hours per week, meaning there are no guaranteed hours.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid California class B Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement.
  • Proof of current insurance.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Over 21 years of age.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience driving a Mobile Unit, bus, truck, or vehicle of comparable size and length preferred.
  • Applicant must be fluent in verbal and written English.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must type 35 wpm.
  • Ability to proficiently maneuver through all electronic applications used for the job.
  • Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs.
  • Compliance with all mandated vaccinations and all boosters is a term and condition of employment.

  • Medical Records office procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Pick-up of the Medical Mobile Unit from storage parking.
  • Transport medical staff to designated areas safely and in a timely manner as the schedule warrants.
  • Maintain Medical Mobile Unit cleanliness and keep in optimum working order.
  • Complete daily log for the unit.
  • Responsible for the set-up and breakdown of required materials.
  • Ensure the safety of parked vehicles.
  • Monitor all fluid levels.
  • Assist in the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Support outreach and community events, including weekends.
  • Review supplies request orders to maintain an adequate inventory of supplies.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as needed, assigned, or requested.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with internal and external personnel.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times.
  • Keep track of Mobile Unit routine maintenance, schedule appointments with mechanics, and maintain appropriate maintenance logs.
  • Perform weekly Mobile Unit refueling and grey and black water dumping.
  • Communicate with management when repairs are needed for the Mobile Unit.
  • Arrive on time at the site, set up and break down tables, chairs, and canopies as needed.
  • Perform daily pre-trip inspection when driving the Mobile Unit.
  • Adhere to all applicable SYHealth policies, procedures, protocols, and best practices.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills in collaboration with teams.
  • Demonstrate active listening skills, respect, and a positive “Can Do” attitude.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading literature, attending in-service trainings and workshops.

  • Manage the process of cash/receipt for any authorizations to release information.
  • Complete and submit any logs pertaining to the operation and maintenance of the Mobile Unit.
