About The Position

The Medical Mobile Unit Driver is responsible for picking up the Medical Mobile Unit from its storage location and transporting medical staff to designated areas safely and on time, as scheduled. The role involves maintaining the cleanliness and optimal working order of the unit according to owner's manuals, completing daily logs, and ensuring the safety of parked vehicles. The driver is also responsible for the set-up and breakdown of required materials and monitoring fluid levels.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid California class B Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement.
  • Proof of current insurance.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Over 21 years of age.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience driving a Mobile Unit, bus, truck, or vehicle of comparable size and length.
  • Applicant must be fluent in verbal and written English.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must type 35 wpm.
  • Ability to proficiently maneuver through all electronic applications used for the job.

  • Medical Records office procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Pick-up of the Medical Mobile Unit from storage parking.
  • Transport medical staff to designated areas in a safe and timely manner.
  • Maintain Medical Mobile Unit cleanliness and keep in optimum working order.
  • Complete daily log for the unit.
  • Responsible for set-up and breakdown of required materials.
  • Ensure safety of parked vehicles.
  • Monitor all fluid levels.
  • Assist in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Support outreach and community events, including weekends.
  • Review supply request orders to maintain adequate inventory.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as needed, assigned, or requested.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Keep track of Mobile Unit routine maintenance, schedule mechanic appointments, and maintain maintenance logs.
  • Perform weekly Mobile Unit refueling and grey/black water dumping.
  • Communicate with management when repairs are needed.
  • Arrive on site on time, set up and break down tables, chairs, and canopies as needed.
  • Perform daily pre-trip inspection when driving the Mobile Unit.
  • Adhere to all applicable SYHealth policies, procedures, protocols, and best practices.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
